Ryan and I finally took our Santa Barbara getaway this weekend and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. The weather could have been better as it was a bit cool, but I didn't mind. It's just so beautiful up there. It was my first night away from Austin and, although I missed him terribly, I cannot tell you how nice it was to have adult conversation with Ryan again! We laughed and talked and laughed and talked some more. So nice. Much needed.
And I got to sleep in. This is HUGE. I miss it. :)
Sunday was my first mother's day and Ryan surprised me with the cutest framed picture of me and Austin. I love it. The perfect gift. We then came back from Santa Barbara and had dinner at Mark and Shelly's with Nandy and Papa and Charlie. It was just a wonderful evening.
We are headed off to CO this Thursday to spend my birthday in CO. It's also my Nana's birthday (we were born on the same day!) and my grandparents' 65th wedding anniversary. How incredible is that?!!? My Uncle and Aunt and 2 of my 6 cousins came out from England to celebrate. We will be going to the Fort Restaurant and I am so excited! I've never been to The Fort, but have wanted to go for years. It's a famous restaurant in CO and it serves some pretty unique food.... Rattle snake, bison tongue, bison marrow, quail eggs, duck, elk, rocky mountain oysters, etc... or you can order just the standard filet :) I might feel like trying something "new". We'll see.
Anyway, it was a terrific weekend and we are really looking forward to the next! CO here we come!!!
