2 Months!

So much has happened this week and I have a lot of new photos of Austin's first Christmas, but I'll need to download those when I get back to California because I forgot my USB cord that goes to my camera. While in CO, Austin met his uncle Seth, great Nana and great Gramp, my uncle Brian and Aunt Nan, Chuck, Leslie and the boys, Hayley and Erica, Hayley's mom Katherine, Kairee and Zach, Casey, Melanie and Kathleen, Jerry and Lenora and Lisa- it's been quite a week!!!

In the past week, I've noticed a couple of developmental changes as well. When Austin is laying on his back, he is now strong enough to pick his head up a little (not much, but he's definitely trying to pick that head up!). He also rolled a little (not all the way) onto his side today when his pacifier fell out and tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to get it back in his mouth using his mouth- mommy was impressed!

Austin is following people with his eyes and head too as they move about the room. He will recognize Ryan or myself in a group of people by both sight and the sound of our voice.

We are trying really hard (and struggling a bit) with nap time and trying to get him to now take naps in a crib as opposed to his swing or chair. I am going to keep working on this and hopefully by the time I'm going back to work, he is a pro.

Pictures to come... :)

Hoherd Christmas and Meeting Uncle Peter!!!

Sunday night we went up to Mark and Shelly's house for a Christmas dinner and to introduce Austin to his Uncle Pete! Austin gave Pete a big thumbs up for guessing nearly his entire birth plan spot on. If you don't remember Peter's guesses, here they are again : Baby Pool

We had a great time with family and exchanging gifts and now I'll spend tomorrow packing because we're off to Colorado on Thursday!!! Can't wait!!!

Thank you Mark and Shelly for watching the dogs while we're away!!!

What's up Uncle Peter- I'm gonna like you!

Yes, Austin does wardrobe changes mid-evening. He's a regular Zoolander- Blue Steel

Peter and Jenna- too cute!

I love my daddy

Silly Uncle Peter

The gang. Apparently Austin and I liked the other camera better.

The boys

Sad Ryan's head is cut off- It's a good photo!

My boy

You're next! Monkey will do for now though.

Merry Christmas, Love the Hoherds!

Immunizations :(

Austin was supposed to get his shots yesterday but we had problems with our insurance. I won't bore you with the details, but we had to go to the community clinic today for 2 of his shots that the pediatrician recommended so he can get on the plane on Thursday. We'll go back to his pediatrician for his other 2 shots and 2 month well check up with Dr. K when we get back. I'm actually relieved that we were able to break up the immunizations because I can't imagine giving them all to him at once! He has been SOOOO sleepy tonight/lethargic and fussy/whiny when he's awake- just not himself so I'm giving him extra cuddles tonight :(

Austin's Auntie Erin came with me to the appointment and I am so glad she did. First, it gave me some adult time (which I am craving!), plus I just like hanging out with her. It's nice to have a sister in law that I really enjoy spending time with and truly value our growing friendship. Also, she proved to be a witness! The pediatrician at this clinic commented how "advanced" he was! ha! That's our boy!

Here are some fun stats from our visit:

  • Austin now weighs 12lbs 1 oz - he is in the 69 percentile for weight
  • Austin's head is in the 55 percentile and she commented on how round it was- no flat head here!
  • And lastly- Austin is 24.5 inches long- that makes him in the 95 percentile!!! He definitely has Ryan's looooong legs, but I think he may also have my long torso!
Okay, I've got to go to take care of my little one I can hear him crying... I hope it's not a long night :(

Meeting Santa

And Austin could not be less interested.... I'd say all he wants for Christmas is a nap!
(yes, I was able to install my printer/scanner to my work computer, but still can't access some websites including my email- sorry if I haven't gotten back to some of you lately!)

My computer sucks.

I haven't been posting much because our computer got a virus and is completely dunzo. I've been using my work computer, which isn't compatible with our wireless because of the firewall. I can't even email my IT guy to fix it. Considering I'm on materity leave, I doubt it would be at the top of their list to fix it! We are going to get a new computer after Christmas- THANK GOD. This is driving me nuts. How did people even live without computers is beyond comprehension. ha!

Oh- and I have the CUTEST pic of Austin with Santa, but can't post it because our scanner isn't hooked up to this computer. Arrrrgh.

Austin is "talking"!

I'm not sure if these videos upload properly, a couple of people said they couldn't see the video the last time I posted one, so we'll try again...

Not much to post

We've had a pretty low key week. Didn't do much this weekend besides get a bit of Christmas shopping done and decorate the house. We decided against a tree this year because we're not going to be here and I'm just too dang tired to put one up!

My boys...

6 Weeks Old!

Man. Time really flies. I'm officially half way through my maternity leave and that makes me SAD. I am actually terrified to go back to work. I just don't know how I'm going to juggle everything... I'm having lot of anxiety about that right now. I'm hoping to ease back into work and start back part-time and then go full-time a month or two later. Luckily, my employer is amazing and I am pretty sure that they will work with me on this.

And I need to find day care. Ugh.... ANXIETY. I don't know where to begin. I need to start this next week though. There is a pit in my stomach over this and I think that I'm avoiding it on purpose because every time I think about it, I choke up a little.

On a positive note, Austin is GREAT. Terrific. Perfect. He is really starting to "talk" and interact with Ryan and I. He smiles at us and even looks like he wants to laugh. I'd want to laugh at us too with all the silly faces and noises we make to him. It's the best part of my day and I just melt every time he smiles. I'll get a video in the next couple of days and post it... but be forewarned, it will melt you too!

Stargazer Lilies

For our 3rd anniversary... beautiful!

Thanksgiving pics!

I realize I'm a bit late on these, I've been meaning to post them.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Ryan's side of the family and got to introduce Austin to the last couple of people on Ryan's side. Dinner was at Ryan's grandparents' house and was excellent (probably the best turkey I've ever had). We really have so much to be thankful for this holiday season.
I also just realized that we only have 1 picture of Ryan and I with Austin over the entire weekend (which I've already posted)... we need to get better about that

I wish we had a better picture of Austin's outfit too- he was SO handsome in his sweat vest!
The whole gang!
Austin meeting his great Uncle Greg, great Aunt Carrie and cousin Nick
Austin loves his Papa

Stormy was very attentive when Austin cried

Meeting his cousin Maddie!

At first, I thought Austin was giving us all the bird.

And lots of pictures with Gammie.... :)

Bathtime!!!

Austin loves his nightly bath with daddy!!!
"Really mommy?!!? You've really got to post one of me when I'm all hanging out for everyone to see??? It's okay, I'll pay you back for this when I'm a teenager"
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck....
""Seriously mommy. Again?" "Brrrrrr..... that lotion is cold!"

Newborn Pictures

I thought I would post them rather than the link that is going to expire... :)
UGH. How am I ever going to choose???
FYI to family- if you want to purchase any of these, that can be done through the Baby Bean website (there's a shopping cart).
