Potty Training

Belinda told me a few weeks ago that Austin was beginning to be very interested in the potty at daycare and he waits his turn to sit on it. We decided it was time to buy a potty to get him used to the idea of sitting on it and he's doing amazing. He'll sit there while I read him a book- super cute (I need to get a picture!). The other day he went pee and then tonight he took a poo and also went pee (same sitting :) )!!! Anyway, I know it's a loooooooong time until he'll be potty trained, but we're off to a good start, I think!

Nana's Visit!

My mom came to visit last weekend and it was great spending time with her. Austin got a bit sick with a cold and had a temperature of over 102 the day after she got here, so we didn't get to do all of the things we had planned, but it was definitely good to just RELAX.

We went down to Zoomars petting zoo in San Juan Capistrano again- I love that place! Austin was having fun in the bunny/guinea pig pen until a bunny bit him! Right on his stomach- he was not happy about that! Then Nana bought Austin a pony ride. I've never seen him more serious in his life! ha! I think he was a little nervous, but I was beside him the entire time. My mom has pics- I need to have her send them to me and I'll post them.

We also went to the park a couple of time. Austin just LOVES the slide. I swear, he could go down it thousands of times. He could really care less for the swings-although that's what I like best because it requires simply pushing him which I great at- ha! The slides are difficult because, I'm not sure if you've noticed, but these playgrounds are not made for grownups! Going up narrow stairs and little slides are hard for 2 people to go down (and are made for short legs and smaller bottoms!).

Thanks Nana for the visit- come back soon!!!

15 Month Appointment

Austin had his 15 month well check-up this week and he's doing great! He's definitely a little bean pole at 90-95% for height (I forget how tall they said he was!) and 10-25% for weight (22.1 lbs). He is definitely taking after his daddy with that body-type!

Papa.

Ryan's grandfather passed away this past weekend. It's been an extremely tough time for everyone. It was rather quick, only a few months, and we are so grateful that he had time to say goodbye. He is done suffering and in a better place where he can watch down on all of us with his big Papa smile. :)

Papa was truly one of the most wonderful men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was so kind, generous and such a wise, wise man. I am so happy that Austin got to meet him and that he had the chance to meet Austin. He spent some precious time with Austin and it is comforting to know that his legacy lives on in Austin, the family and the newest addition that Charlie and Erin will soon bring into the world. He was truly the patriarch of the family and he will be greatly missed. We love you papa... as I tell Austin, "to the moon and back".

A few new pics...

Because I haven't taken many lately!

Too cool for school:

Austin and his girlfriend Kayla:

And lastly, Belinda says that Austin is SUPER interested in the potty lately and will go and sit on the little kid potty for a couple of minutes while she is training a couple of the other kids. I sat him down on the potty the other night (I need to get a little kid potty) and he was so excited! ha! What a big boy.

A Hard Lesson in Motherhood and Selflessness

Today I learnt that a mother's selflessness need not apply when it comes to Girl Scout cookies (specifically Thin Mints). As Austin sat there thoroughly enjoying his first ever Thin Mint, all I could think was, "Damn it... that's one less for me!!!!".

That will be his first and last Thin Mint this year.
