Ryan and I like to collect pets.
We've had several cats, dogs, fish and even an lizard named Jim over the years.
But, I really need to give a shout out to our deserving animals. They are SO good with Austin.
Cleo (our cat) is borderline obsessed with Austin. She follows him around (trying to act completely dis-interested) and shakes her tail in his face. He loves it. She allows him to grab her and pull her (something we are trying very hard to stop early, but luckily she puts up with it for the time being). Almost every time I nurse Austin, she climbs up and hangs out with us. I think it's kind of comforting for her to be purring up against him while he eats.
Lady (our dog) is, surprisingly, the only one I get a bit nervous about. She will allow him to pet her and tug on her a little bit, but definitely walks away when she's had enough. She has yet to growl at him, and I am still a bit apprehensive for some reason about her, but she has been really good so far. She also loves to be in the room when I nurse Austin. Just keeping watch.
And Lola. Our Queen Bee. Our Little Bitch (if you know her, you understand). Some might call her aggressive, some might even think she's a bit evil. But we love all 5lbs of her. I was MOST worried about her. There isn't a day that goes by that she doesn't growl at me and most days, try to bite me. Seriously. We even went as far as arranging for my grandparents to take her. Really, they did a trial run with her and everything! She has SURPRISED me. I cannot believe how wonderful (know on wood) she has been with him. Lola has not bitten or even growled at Austin ONCE. Crazy! It's like she knows that her bags were packed! ha! Austin grabs her (I try not to let this happen to her, but occasionally it does) and the most she's done is let out a yelp. AMAZING.
Anyway, I thought I'd just give a shout out to our animals because they contribute to the craziness and wonderful-ness (is that even a word?)of our household and I am so thankful at how accepting they have been of Austin. :)
