SCARY

And why wouldn't this happen to us right now!? LOL!

We had a bit of a fright last night- Ryan went to the Urgent Care only to find out that he had a staph infection!

I coulda lost my baby-daddy!

It started about 3 days ago when he had a big red bump on his arm. It looked like an infected spider bite that was now about the size of an egg and really red and sore. He iced it, then put heat on it and it didn't go down. I begged him to go to the doctor for 2 days, but of course being a man, he put it off and thought it would just go away. Remember the cat bite that landed me in the hospital for 3 days?!!??! yeah, infections like that are NOT something you want to mess around with! LOL!

The bump then got hot to touch it- so strange. Obviously pretty infected. He went to work yesterday and said that his whole arm hurt all day- up his bicep. I begged him to stop by the Urgent Care on the way home. He finally took my advice when he couldn't even turn the key to turn on his car!

When he got to the Urgent Care, they really put him into panic mode because they told him how serious it was and if he had waited another night and come in this morning, it would have spread to his shoulder (and close to his heart!). They would have had to admit him to the hospital where it's likely he would have stayed for up to a week! They were thinking about admitting him last night too, but he promised to come back today if it didn't feel better.

He was in the Urgent Care for over 3 hours while they drained the infection (apparently he backed up the whole waiting room and he overheard the receptionist apologizing to a woman saying they had a real emergency tonight!). And now he's on some crazy antibiotics, needs to take like 8 pills a day for the next 2 weeks.

All I can say is GOOD THING I made sure that there was no lapse in coverage on our insurance this month due to our job changes.

The doctor gave Ryan the best advice I've personally ever heard.... "Next time, listen to your wife".

Here is Ryan after spending 4 hours in Urgent Care, hopefully heeding the doctors advice.
